IFNG and Hepatic fibrosis: Innate lymphoid cells (ILCs), particularly NK cells, play a pivotal role in liver fibrosis, with NK cells exhibiting antifibrotic effects by killing activated HSCs and releasing IFNγ, offering a potential therapeutic strategy by boosting their activity [44,45]The intricate relationships among these many immune cell types highlight the complexity of liver fibrosis, where the resolution or development of the illness is determined by the balance between profibrotic and antifibrotic signalling pathways (see Figure 1).
