Moreover, our data suggest that an unbalanced forced macrophagic polarization in SCD could be preferentially targeted by usage of CB2 and TRPV1 agonists that would exert immune-modulating effects beneficial on several iron and not-iron related features (i.e. anemia and pain), as already suggested by animal models30–32.
