Studies with IKK‐β cysteine 46‐A transgenic (IKK‐β C46A) mice, in which cysteine 46 is mutated to alanine, have shown increased expression of Cav‐1 and membrane‐bound prostaglandin E2 synthase‐1 (mPGES‐1), promoting osteoclast differentiation and osteolysis, which exacerbates inflammatory bone destruction in RA [71].
