This selective effect of peripheral CB1 antagonism on energy balance through splanchnic afferent fibers rather than vagal afferent fibers is further supported by one previous study showing that CB1 deletion in vagal neurons (using Phox2bCre/CB1flox/flox mice) did not have any consequences on body weight or food intake27 contrary to our Nav1.8Cre+/CB1flox/flox mouse model that demonstrated decrease in food intake and resistance to weight gain on HF diet. Here, CNR1 is linked to hydrops fetalis.
