While partially abrogating T2DM-associated increase in iNOS mRNA (1.58-fold) and leaving eNOS mRNA expression unchanged (Figure 4D), vitamin D3 supplementation contributed to a further significant enhancement of iNOS and eNOS protein synthesis (1.45- and 1.92-fold, respectively) in comparison with the diabetic state (Figures 4E,F).
