This reduction in both GCF and serum chemerin levels being a proinflammatory marker is mainly attributed to the removal of etiological factors and reduction of inflammatory component in the periodontal tissues through nonsurgical periodontal therapy which is further augmented by the adjunctive use of Omega-3FAs, demonstrating that periodontal diseases possess systemic impacts continuing beyond the local periodontal environment.
