Treatment of mice orthotopically injected with L1-Knocked Down PDAC cells (L1KD) with the small molecule inhibitor Tranilast (TRL, Rizaben®, CAS 53902-12-8), which is an approved drug for asthma and glaucoma (EMA/COMP/234320/2010), targeting TGF-β and collagen, resulted also in a notable reduction in matrix metalloproteinase 2 (MMP2) expression- an essential factor for tumor cells invasion- and effectively eliminated liver metastasis [29–31]. This evidence concerns the gene MMP2 and glaucoma.
