VEGFA and hepatocellular carcinoma: The involvement of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in modulating cancer immune responses indicates that targeting VEGF with antibodies could improve the efficacy of immunotherapy.5 The IMbrave150 study demonstrated that the combination of atezolizumab (a programmed death ligand [PD-L1] inhibitor) with bevacizumab (anti-VEGF antibody) for advanced HCC significantly improved survival and showed favorable safety.6
