Thyroid eye disease (TED) is the most frequent extrathyroidal manifestation of Graves’ disease (GD), a prevalent autoimmune disease caused by stimulatory autoantibodies (TRAb) directed against the thyrotropin receptor (TSH-R), leading to overt hyperthyroidism and subsequent metabolic abnormalities in peripheral tissues [1]. The gene discussed is TSHR; the disease is hyperthyroidism.
