The Nucleotide-binding oligomerization domain, leucine-rich repeat and pyrin domain-containing 3 (NLRP3) inflammasome is a key mediator in this process, and several drugs and inhibitors have been shown to reduce neuronal damage and cerebral infarction following Cerebral I/R injury by inhibiting NLRP3-dependent pyroptosis (Wang L. et al., 2022; Kang et al., 2021; Xiao et al., 2021). This evidence concerns the gene NLRP3 and brain infarction.
