Prior analysis of gene expression profiles from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database found that ITGAX, which codes for CD11c, is upregulated in ccRCC tissue and associated with poorer prognosis.34 In vitro studies of ovarian tumor cells have suggested that ITGAX overexpression may activate the PI3k/Akt pathway.35,36 Recent spatial transcriptomic studies have consistently identified integrins as being biologically meaningful components of the tumor immune microenvironment.37 The gene discussed is ITGAX; the disease is nonpapillary renal cell carcinoma.
