Microbiological investigations were notable for a malaria rapid diagnostic test (RDT) (BinaxNOW®, Alere, Stittsville, ON, USA) that was positive for detection of both P. falciparum-specific histidine-rich protein II (HRP-2) antigen (T1 band) and pan-malarial aldolase antigen (T2 band). Here, HDGFL2 is linked to malaria.
