Inclisiran (Leqvio), originally developed by Alnylam Pharmaceuticals and subsequently licensed by Novartis (Basel, Switzerland) is an siRNA drug that targets proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 (PCSK9) mRNAs, thus achieving a sustained reduction in low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) levels in patients with hypercholesterolemia. Here, PCSK9 is linked to familial hypercholesterolemia.
