However, 5 or 50 mg/kg clothianidin (Kubo et al. 2022) decreased locomotor activities, elevated anxiety‐like behaviors, impaired short‐ and long‐term learning memory, increased c‐fos positive cells in the paraventricular thalamic nucleus and the dentate gyrus of the hippocampus in males, potentially due to a sex difference in the pharmacokinetics as higher concentrations of clothianidin and metabolites in blood and urine were found in males.
