In 2005, the Stupp protocol reported a median survival benefit of 2.5 months (14.6 vs. 12.1 months).9 Patients with an unmethylated 6-O-methylguanine DNA methyltransferase (MGMT) gene have longer survival due to a positive response to temozolomide.9 There has been no standard of care for rGBM to date; hence, numerous studies have focused on finding effective treatments.10 Since 2009, bevacizumab (BEV) has been used as a salvage therapy for patients with GBM. This evidence concerns the gene MGMT and glioblastoma.
