As lipid metabolism plays a crucial role in brain function and has been increasingly recognized as a key factor that is dysregulated in neurodegenerative diseases (Estes et al., 2021), it is intriguing that expression of Abca1, which is essential for lipid homeostasis in neurons and glia (Dean et al., 2001; Tachikawa et al., 2005; Hirsch-Reinshagen et al., 2004; Wellington et al., 2002), showed elevated expression in both P301L and A152T groups (Figure 4B). This evidence concerns the gene ABCA1 and neurodegenerative disease.
