NR4A1 is translocated from the cytoplasm to mitochondria by treatment of 1-(3,4,5)-trihydroxyphenyl)nonan-1-one (THPN), a synthetic NR4A1 ligand, and NR4A1 treated with THPN leads to a decrease in the mitochondrial membrane potential and an induction of autophagic cell death in human melanoma cell line A375 [74]. This evidence concerns the gene NR4A1 and melanoma.
