While global Sgk1 knockout mice do not display significant phenotypic changes under normal conditions, they have been shown to exhibit specific physiological alterations, such as reduced sensitivity to hypoxia-induced pulmonary arterial hypertension (Xi et al., 2019) and impaired sodium retention on a low-salt diet (Wulff et al., 2002). Here, SGK1 is linked to pulmonary arterial hypertension.
