There is evidence that patients with psoriasis have an increased visceral adiposity, which represents not only an energy deposit, but also an endocrine organ secreting adipokines, including leptin, visfatin, adiponectin, resistin, chemerin, as well as pro-inflammatory mediators such as IL-6 and TNF-α, all with different immunomodulatory properties (5, 11). Here, LEP is linked to psoriasis.
