CEBPZ and Autoimmunity: Given the well-studied energy-intensive nature of immune responses [64], we propose that ATG13 constitutively suppresses immune pathway activation under non-pathogenic conditions to prevent energetically costly autoimmunity, thereby redirecting limited resources toward cryoprotectant biosynthesis and CBF/DREB1 signaling pathway maintenance, ultimately conferring enhanced cold adaptability in the mutant.
