To investigate the potential role of IFI16 in modulating the acetylation of histones bound to KSHV chromatin, we first knocked down IFI16 in BCBL-1 (Body Cavity Based Lymphoma-1) cells, a cell line generated from the B cells of a male primary effusion lymphoma (PEL) patient that is latently infected with KSHV and can stably maintain the KSHV episome in culture [47,48]. This evidence concerns the gene IFI16 and primary effusion lymphoma.
