Despite the large number of completed and ongoing clinical trials of neurosteroids as neuroprotectors, only a few have shown good clinical results, as evidenced by the emergence of new FDA-approved drugs such as brexanolone (ZulressoTM) and zuranolone (ZurzuvaeTM) for the treatment of postpartum depression and ganaxolone (ZtalmyTM) for the treatment of CDKL5 deficiency disorder. Here, CDKL5 is linked to postpartum depression.
