INS and polycystic ovary syndrome: The current findings require replication with diverse samples of premenopausal women and also with older menopausal or post-menopausal women with PCOS, because some research suggests that PCOS symptoms can change with age.1 Studies should also examine whether emotion recognition is associated with specific biological markers (e.g., androgen levels, androgen genes, and insulin dysregulation) in PCOS, as these may provide insight into biological variables that mediate or moderate the relationship between FER and PCOS symptoms.
