Marinobufagenin (MBG), a steroid, is produced from the placenta and adrenocortex.[15] In previous studies, it has been shown that serum levels of MBG increase before hypertension develops, it is involved in the pathophysiology of pre-eclampsia and it has been shown to be involved in capillary leakage.[16,17] Development of capillary leakage causes albumin to diffuse into the extracellular fluid, resulting in a decrease in serum albumin levels. Here, ALB is linked to Hypertension.
