Notably, a recent epigenome-wide association study (EWAS) identified inverse associations between DNA methylation at cg19693031 (chromosome 1, Thioredoxin-Interacting Protein [TXNIP]) and cg21534330 (chromosome 17, Casein Kinase 1 Isoform Delta) with HbA1c levels, indicating that lower TXNIP methylation may be linked to poorer glycemic control in T1D [7]. This evidence concerns the gene TXNIP and type 1 diabetes mellitus.
