In ox-LDL-induced endothelial dysfunction, liraglutide also reduced ROS levels, apoptosis, and the upregulation of LOX-1, nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate oxidase 4 (NOX4), and NF-κB, suggesting that GLP-1 RAs slow atherosclerosis progression. This evidence concerns the gene GLP1R and atherosclerosis.
