Our study, which focused on polymorphisms in the genes coding gelatinases MMP-2 and MMP-9, found that the MMP-9 rs3918242 CT genotype was significantly associated with an increased risk of arterial thrombosis (OR = 4.206, CI 1.337–13.234, p = 0.014) and thrombotic events (both arterial and venous thromboses combined) (OR = 3.200, CI 1.110–9.258, p = 0.031, respectively). The gene discussed is MMP2; the disease is Arterial thrombosis.
