Perez-Carbonell et al. performed a comprehensive evaluation of a panel comprising CRC-specific methylated genes (SEPT9, TWIST1, IGFBP3, GAS7, ALX4, and miR137) and observed that methylation levels of all these markers were markedly elevated in colorectal cancer tissues compared to normal controls (p < 0.0001). Here, SEPTIN9 is linked to colorectal cancer.
