Data in the literature show that the insulin pump has several advantages [34,35]: (i) reduced number of complications, (ii) best method of mimicking physiological insulin secretion, (iii) method of choice for children under the age of 6, (iv) improved quality of life by reducing the number of injections and severe hypoglycemia, and (v) improved night-time control (blood glucose levels at bedtime, in the middle of the night, and on rising) compared with a regimen involving multiple injections of insulin. This evidence concerns the gene INS and Hypoglycemia.
