Several recent findings on NLRP3 activation in metabolic syndrome provide evidence of the inflammasome’s central role in disease progression and organ dysfunction and the target tissues of metaflammation, in particular, in cardiovascular, hepatic, and renal complications, with a focus on oxidative stress, advanced glycation end-products (AGEs), and inflammation in the field of myocardial IRI [132]. This evidence concerns the gene NLRP3 and metabolic syndrome.
