In MiaPaCa-2 cancer cells, cerivastatin, pitavastatin, and simvastatin increased the expression of the APOC1 gene (Figure 1A,C), the product of which, together with APOE and other apolipoproteins, is an essential component of high-density lipoprotein (HDL), very low-density lipoprotein (VLDL), and chylomicrons. This evidence concerns the gene APOE and cancer.
