Increasing levels of HE4 were associated with an increased risk of MI (HR 1.275, 95% CI: 1.070–1.518, p = 0.006) and MACEs (HR 1.249, 95% CI: 1.057–1.476, p = 0.009) when adjusted for age, sex, hypertension, hypercholesterolemia, diabetes mellitus, smoking status, congestive heart failure, and coronary artery disease.
