Patients with AAA were significantly older (74 ± 9 vs. 67 ± 11 years, p < 0.001), more likely to be male (84% vs. 65%, p < 0.001), past smokers (55% vs. 37%, p < 0.001), taking cholesterol-lowering medications (79% vs. 71%, p = 0.024), and less likely to be taking insulin (3% vs. 7%, p = 0.047) (Table 1).
