Our observation of a significant positive association for thyroid cancer is inconsistent with that of a single‐centre study from China which did not show any association between hypertensive patients and higher cancer stage among female patients or users of common anti‐hypertensive therapies (calcium channel blockers, angiotensin‐converting and enzyme inhibitors/angiotensin II‐receptor blockers) [12]. The gene discussed is ACE; the disease is cancer.
