Although studies directly linking mushroom polysaccharides to downregulation of CHRM3 are scarce, classical PSP and lentinan preparations from Trametes versicolor and Lentinula edodes, respectively, inhibit PI3K/AKT and MAPK cascades—the same downstream effectors activated by CHRM3 in NSCLC—which provides a mechanistic rationale for hypothesizing that AMPs may similarly suppress CHRM3 expression and activity in lung cancer. The gene discussed is AKT1; the disease is non-small cell lung carcinoma.
