Regarding the MUC5B polymorphism, we confirmed that the MUC5B rs35705950 SNP is associated with IPF, a finding consistent with several previous studies [22,23,24,26,27]. A meta-analysis conducted by Singh et al. [25] examined the relationship between MUC5B rs35705950 and susceptibility to IPF across 18 studies from diverse continents, including Europe, America, and Asia, encompassing 6,161 patients and 13,556 controls. This evidence concerns the gene MUC5B and idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.
