NFE2L2 and early-onset autosomal dominant Alzheimer disease: Likewise, given that the Nrf2 pathway is involved in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer’s disease [73], and that periodontitis is commonly observed among patients with dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease [74], it is clinically relevant to investigate whether targeting the Nrf2 pathway could mitigate the link between periodontitis and dementia.
