Importantly, we found that live aortic ThGM cells are phenotypically CCR6−CCR8−CXCR3−CCR10+ and can activate macrophages to produce interleukin-1β (IL-1β), TNF, interleukin-6 (IL-6), and C-C motif chemokine ligand 2 (CCL2), suggesting that aortic ThGM cells might be involved in macrophage-mediated atherosclerosis development (Xiong et al., 2024). The gene discussed is IL6; the disease is atherosclerosis.
