GPBAR1 and cancer: Our literature search revealed that GPBAR1 can suppress cell proliferation by activating the cAMP signaling pathway, which is known to be associated with cancer bone metastasis.[71,72,73] To examine if this is the case in CHOL, we note that the expression of GPBAR1 indeed negatively correlates with cell-cycle related pathways (Figure 4D, Table S1), and with the level of cell-cycle progression (Figure 4E), thereby confirming that GPBAR1 suppresses cell proliferation in CHOL, as reported in the literature, which further limits the rate of nucleotide biosynthesis for DNA synthesis.
