A large number of studies have shown that inflammatory cytokines such as tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), Interleukin-1β, IL-6, IL-10, IL-12p70, IL-17, IL-18, and IL-23, have significant effects on nuclear factor-κB ligand (RANKL), Cathepsin K (CTSK) and nuclear factor-activated T cell 1 (NFATc1) are associated with increased risk of osteoporosis (12–14). Here, CTSK is linked to osteoporosis.
