Employing the rodent-specific Plasmodium chabaudi AS (PcAS) model, which typically induces only mild symptoms despite high parasitemia in WT mice (Stephens et al, 2012), we found that GR deletion leads to excessive cytokine levels and lethal hypoglycemia, without alteration of insulin levels, highlighting a distinct pathway in glucose homeostasis. This evidence concerns the gene NR3C1 and Hypoglycemia.
