This uptake of (P)PanSH as a mixed disulfide could prove useful in the development of therapeutic strategies to treat CoA-linked diseases (PKAN, PPCS-deficiency and PPCDC-deficiency) that require the bypass of the CoA biosynthesis enzymes PANK2 (5), PPCS (6) or PPCDC (7), respectively. This evidence concerns the gene PPCS and pantothenate kinase-associated neurodegeneration.
