PCSK9 and atherosclerosis: The results of the qualitative LC-MS/MS examination of red watermelon extract confirmed the presence of lycopene, citrulline, vitamin A, vitamin C, and vitamin E. These compounds exhibit significant antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects, which are relevant in the modulation of atherosclerosis-related pathways, particularly PCSK9 expression and cholesterol metabolism (Figure 1).
