FN1 and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis: The activation of hepatic Kupffer followed by stellate cell activation [624, 649, 675–680] promotes hepatocyte death with increased deposition of ECM materials such as collagen, and fibronectin, causing fatty steatosis [673] with ballooned hepatocytes (UPR mediated) leading to irreversible nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) or metabolism-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD) which progressively reduces hepatic functionality.
