While many of these microRNAs are skeletal muscle-enriched (myomiRs) and are dysregulated in neuromuscular disorders (NMDs) such as DMD, many other microRNAs regulating fibrosis, inflammation, and even the dystrophin mRNA itself will affect DMD disease progression (Fiorillo et al, 2015; Kiełbowski et al, 2024). This evidence concerns the gene DMD and Duchenne muscular dystrophy.
