Of women who did not undergo RRM and had at least two benign biopsies (n = 251; 134 BRCA1 carriers) a change in histological patterns—from normal breast tissue (grade 0), non-proliferative histology (grades 1 and 2) and proliferative changes (grades 3 and 4) was analyzed to see if any changes—progression or regression—were associated with subsequent BC risk. The gene discussed is BRCA1; the disease is breast cancer.
