55‐year‐old female (BMI = 22; serum albumin = 3.5 g/dL) with diffuse abdominal discomfort and 10 lb unintentional weight loss over 2 months, good performance status (ECOG = 1), and newly diagnosed poorly differentiated adenocarcinoma of the stomach with signet‐ring features is found to have four small biopsy‐proven, localized, perigastric peritoneal deposits (all < 5 mm) during staging laparoscopy. The gene discussed is ALB; the disease is adenocarcinoma.
