Results of this study suggest that Fe intake may modulate circulating OEA levels and this points out to the possibility of dietary interventions to increase levels of this mediator and, hence, affect its main receptors, that is the peroxisome proliferator-activate receptor α (PPARα), the transient receptor potential vanilloid of type 1 (TRPV1) channel, and the G-protein-coupled receptor 119 (GPR119), all of which are known to counteract obesity (Christie et al., 2018; Grimaldi, 2001). Here, PPARA is linked to obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
