IGF1 and acne: Appropriately balanced vegan and plant-based diets may reduce the risk or severity of acne, hidradenitis suppurativa, psoriasis, and atopic dermatitis, attributed to reduced intake of dairy, animal fats, and high-glycemic foods, and an increase in fiber, antioxidants, and anti-inflammatory nutrients [22,24]. Moreover, vegan diets typically result in lower circulating IGF-1 levels, which, while potentially protective against certain malignancies, could also impair dermal repair and collagen synthesis, particularly in nutritionally compromised individuals.
