For every 1-SD increase in interleukin 18 (IL-18) levels, the risk of developing AMD increased correspondingly [odds ratio (OR): 1.134, 95% confidence internal (CI): 1.009–1.275, P = 0.034], while inverse associations between genetically platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF-BB) concentrations and AMD (OR: 0.804, 95% CI: 0.678–0.954, P = 0.012) was found by using IVW method. Here, IL18 is linked to age-related macular degeneration.
