NIR excitation lasers(e.g., 785 nm) enable noninvasive detection and deep penetration intocells or human tissues. The Chang grouprecently synthesized a tricarbocyanine derivative (CyNAMLA-381) withlarge NIR absorption and good chemical stability, using it as a Ramanindicator for in vivo cancer cell imaging. They obtained SERS images of HER2-positive CSKBR-3 cells with highsensitivity and specificity. Here, ERBB2 is linked to cancer.
